In general, truck drivers lack similar access to healthcare that most Americans enjoy. Studies show more than 70 percent of professional truck drivers in the country have one or more serious health concerns such as diabetes, sleep disorders, cardiovascular disease or obesity.
To combat this national crisis, organizations such as the nonprofit chosen to receive Drive Logistics financial support are critical to the relief efforts.
The organization selected this quarter is St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund.
The St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund (SCF) is a charity that assists over-the-road and/or regional semi-truck drivers, and their families, when an illness or injury has caused them to be out of work.
Assistance may be in the form of direct payment to Providers for living expenses such as: rent/mortgage, utilities, vehicle payments and insurance. SCF also provides applicants with information on how to negotiate price reductions with medical providers and hospitals.
How We Choose Each Quarter's Charitable Donation Recipient:
To be selected, each organization had to complete a rigorous process. For consideration, the organization must be a nonprofit, incorporated for three consecutive years and operates, or has, programs in the city of Jacksonville.
The Committee for Charitable Giving is led by committee chair Lindsay Brunson and the team is completed by Czarah Cabrera, Emma Dotsikas, Debi Eason, Kait Robinett and Lloyd Woodson.
The Committee for Charitable Giving is excited to help Drive Logistics serve the northeast Florida community and abroad!
